McDonough Suffers Defeat in Bellator Finals

Adam McDonough came up short Friday night in the Bellator Welterweight Tournament finals against the tough Russian veteran, Andrey Koreshkov. It was a tough loss for Adam as it marked the first of his professional career and winning the bout would have guaranteed him a World Title fight against current Bellator Welterweight champion, Douglas Lima.

Adam was unable to find his rhythm and get his offense together against the elite Russian striker and when he shot for a takedown, Koreshkov was able to defend successfully. The fight was scored 30-27 by all three judges in favor of Koreshkov and took place in the main event of the Spike TV broadcast.

McDonough next plans to rest and heal up (he had 2 badly injured shoulders going into this training camp), but he is eager to step back into the Bellator cage and get back on the winning track. As they say in martial arts, you either Win or you Learn. Adam plans to learn from this bout and come back better than ever. He just went 3 rounds with one of the best fighters in the world and someone who is known for finishing his opponents early. We know this fight will be huge for Adam’s confidence and you will surely see a different Adam McDonough next time around.

We feel bad for his next opponent, whomever that may be.
