Di Lin is a Muay Thai Instructor at The Cellar Gym
Di has been training in kickboxing and Muay Thai at the Cellar Gym since early 2012. He joined the staff team in early 2019 and hopes to pass on his knowledge and experience to his students. Di takes a highly analytical approach to martial arts and is very detail-oriented in his instruction.
Di has competed in both kickboxing and Muay Thai and won the novice welterweight division in 2014 at the TBA-SA Muay Thai Classic tournament. His fighting style utilizes deft footwork to control spacing and tricky timing to create openings. Di is well-versed in the clinch and is a great resource for students who want to improve their clinch game.
Di has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and is currently a researcher (post-doctoral associate) at the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on exploiting light fields for passive, non-line-of-sight imaging.
Quote: “My colleagues often ask why I train in martial arts. I generally tell them that it’s just about having fun, setting goals, and striving to be a better version of myself. I suppose you can say that about most hobbies, but martial arts is especially conducive to these things. It really helps foster positivity in my life.”
