Ben Locken
Ben Locken is the resident “renaissance man”. He coaches Muay Thai, Kickboxing, MMA and Strength and Conditioning at The Cellar Gym.
Ben started his fitness career in January 2009 and has become a certified trainer through NASM gaining his CPT, PES, CES and FNS and is currently working towards becoming a master instructor. He began his martial arts career as a new hobby and it grew into a career. Ben earned his Muay Thai black rank under Grand Master Chai in 2017 and is also a BJJ Black Belt under Dave Margraf. Ben has over 20 combined fights in Kickboxing, Muay Thai and MMA. He won the men’s 165 pound K-1 title for Relentless Kickboxing promotions in 2013.
Ben values hard work, a great attitude and a willingness to learn and grow as a human. He knows people will make mistakes but how you respond to a situation is all you can control. He is passionate about what he does and loves motivating his students to achieve their goals. Ben enjoys spending his free time with his wife and son, trying new things and being active!
Teaching Style: Ben enjoys a very technical style of teaching. He likes flowing and stringing combinations and movements together. He takes a serious approach when training fighters/competitors and expects them to put the work in. However, he always tries to be light-hearted and make every class fun and enjoyable. The more you’re sweating and smiling, the better.
Quote: “If you could think of your ideal perfect training partner, what would they do and how would they act… DO THAT!”
