Devlin Borders is a Muay Thai instructor at The Cellar Gym.
A long-time member of the Cellar dating back to when it was just off the University of Minnesota campus, Coach Devlin is a lifelong martial artist having started Tae Kwon Do as a youth as a means of bully-proofing himself from his older brother.
A native Californian, Devlin made his way to the Twin Cities and sought out Martial arts as a way to stay healthy and balanced. It wasn’t too long before he discovers and fell in love with Muay Thai, going on to compete in local bouts and ultimately capturing the Thai Boxing Association World Expo Master’s division championship in 2016.
Teaching style: A patient instructor, Devlin’s teaching style is a focus on the basics, including things he’s learned first-hand that do and do not work in the ring. The thai clinch (stand up grappling) holds a special place in Devlin’s heart, so you can always count on developing a well-rounded game when taking his classes.
