Katie Locken is the General Manager and Youth Muay Thai instructor at The Cellar Gym.
Katie has been involved in Martial arts for nearly 20 years. She started her journey when she was 10 years old after her parents signed her up following the 9/11 attacks. She now has a 4th degree black belt in Karate, a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is an active competitor in Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts. In Spring 2017, Katie became the Women’s Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion at the TBA Classic World Muay Thai Expo.
Katie’s true passion lies in teaching Martial arts and she currently instructs kids, ages 3-16, Muay Thai at The Cellar Gym. Katie strives to provide a positive, fun learning environment for students to realize their potential and the tools to get them there. Katie has a Liberal arts degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin cities and enjoys spending her free time making memories with her husband and son.
Teaching style: Katie would describe her teaching style as disciplined and empowering. She pushes her students to do their best through positive reinforcement and high expectations. She enjoys adapting to each child’s unique learning style by creating new and exciting drills.
