If you’re part of The Cellar Gym or the martial arts community in Minnesota and the Midwest, you probably know (or at least know of) Coach Chris Cichon. Chris’ dedication has helped shape the martial arts landscape in Minnesota and across the country, and he has always been a vitally important coach, mentor, and friend to our community.
Recently, Chris was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Although treatment has been successful, the Cichon family has a long road ahead as they face significant medical expenses and health challenges alongside raising their two young children.
Ajarn Chai Sirisute, the founder of the World Thai Boxing Association, is holding a two-day Muay Thai seminar here at The Cellar Gym on September 23rd and 24th as a fundraiser to benefit Chris and his family. In addition to the Muay Thai seminar (register for seminar), we will also be hosting a dinner on Saturday, September 23rd to honor Ajarn Chai and to bring together his students from around the Midwest.
As part of this dinner event, we will be including a silent auction fundraiser. The silent auction will be open to the public, and we are hoping to offer a variety of exciting recreation items, services, experiences, and specialty martial arts equipment. We will post the online auction link as we get closer to the event.
