Chris Cichon Headed to England to Defend IKF World Title

cichon vs lyall england

The Cellar Fight Team’s Chris Cichon (19-5) has been booked to defend his IKF Amateur Light Middleweight World Title on May 10th at the Casino Rooms in Rochester, Kent, England.  Cichon will be challenged by Scotland’s Ryan Lyall.

Cellar Fight Team Trainer, Justin Whiley will make the trip with Cichon and will also help to corner Utah’s Travis Mason as he takes on England’s Ashely Collins for the vacant IKF Light Heavyweight World Title.  Mason is a good friend of the Cellar as we have been asked to help work his corner at both the 2008 IKF World Classic in Orlando, Florida and the 2009 Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio.  Travis Mason won both tournaments with Justin in his corner and he looks continue his wining ways on May 10th.

GRADUATION DAY – SUNDAY 10TH MAY
Casino Rooms, Rochester, Kent

I am pleased to announce the following line up for our next event. It was always going to be hard to follow the cracking line up we had last month with our EMPIRE STRIKES BACK event, but I honestly feel we have succeeded and matched it with another line up of top professionals and world class Amateur fighters.

ASHLEY COLLINS (TKO) V TRAVIS MASON (USA) FOR IKF WORLD AMATUER LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
The event is titled Graduation Day and this is the last step on a programme we have followed for Ashley since day one, moving him through the amateur ranks to this, a fight for the IKF World title. Currently the IKF European Champion and with no domestic fighters who wish to fight him Ashley meets Travis for the World title in a rematch from last year.

The two of them met at the 2008 IKF World classic in Florida where Travis took the win in the final and Ashley has been keen to get a rematch since. With his win in the classic ensuring his position as number 1 challenger for the World title, it was always going to Travis who Ashley had to meet for the title and having made a successful defence of his European title the time is right to make the challenge.

RYAN LYALL (RIVALS GYM) V CHRIS CICHON (USA)
Chris is the current World Champion and someone we met at last years IKF World Classic. A very nice guy and also a very good fighter Chris is putting his title on line just a short time after winning it. He is also a former IKF Central and US Champion, winner of the 2008 IKF and KICK/WAKO Tournaments and this years Arnold Sports Festival Tournament Champion. Accepting the challenge to go for the title is Ryan Lyall from Rivals Gym the current IKF British Amateur Champion, a title he won just last month when he defeated Pat Sheehan, a fighter that Chris Cichon has also beaten having stopped him in one round at last years Florida event. I am looking forward to welcoming Chris to our event and I would like to thank both him and Stewart Allan and the Rivals gym for their help in getting this fight on, it’s much appreciated.
